The latest survey by the Hong Kong Family Planning Guidance Association found that Hong Kong couples have sex only 3.7 times a month on average, less than once a week, down from 4.4 times five years ago. The "land issue" has indeed had an impact on sex life. "Crowded living space" and "living in the same room with children" are the main factors affecting couples' sex life. However, most of the respondents are satisfied or very satisfied with their marriage and sex life.

The Family Planning Association has conducted a territory-wide large-scale survey every five years since 1967. This time, the "Hong Kong Family Planning Knowledge, Attitude and Practice Survey" was conducted from August last year to June this year, and 1,514 people aged 15 to 49 were interviewed. Women who are married or currently living together, and 1,059 their spouses or partners.

The Family Planning Association found that Hong Kong couples only have sex an average of 3.7 times a month, down from 4.4 times in 2012. "Land issues" have the greatest impact on sexual life. "Crowded living space" and "living in the same room with children" are the most important factors affecting couples' sexual life. Other factors include various pressures from career, economy, childcare, etc. . However, more than 80% of the respondents said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their marriage and their sex life.

70% of women do not want to have children or have another child. Raising children is a heavy financial burden and responsibility.

Survey results show that the average number of children per couple in Hong Kong remains at a low level of 1.2 to 1.3. Nearly 70% of female respondents said they did not want to have or have more children, only 15% said they wanted to have or have more children, and nearly 15% were still undecided whether they wanted to have children. Women listed three major reasons why they did not want to have children or would only have one child, including "too much responsibility" and "heavy financial burden" in raising children, and "wanting more personal time and space for development."

When asked what kind of family planning policies can increase the desire to have children, most female respondents said financial incentives such as education, medical and housing subsidies; improving social support for parents, including increasing infant care and childcare services, and having children. Measures such as paid parent-child leave, paid paternity leave for fathers and flexible working hours, as well as free early childhood education, can encourage them to have more children.

Overall, the Family Planning Association said that the ideal family size of Hong Kong couples has not changed significantly in the past 15 years. However, it was noted that the respondents' responses to public policy proposals that are conducive to family organization were more positive than before.

The Family Planning Association also pointed out that the frequency of sexual life depends on the needs and preferences of each couple and cannot be used as the only indicator of whether a sexual life is satisfactory. However, since sex life is an important element of a harmonious marriage and intimate relationship between partners, the Family Planning Association advises couples not to neglect sex life. It understands that the crowded living environment in Hong Kong will bring difficulties to sex life. It is recommended that couples be flexible and creative. Arrange boudoir fun.
